REDES

Affects political decisions

The organization REDES (Red de Ecología Social) – Amigos de la Tierra was formed in 1988. REDES runs campaigns on issues of environment and society to influence the people and decision-makers in Uruguay. In collaboration with universities and social movements, they conduct research, organize courses, present political alternatives and support innovative experiences and alternatives in the environmental field. The organization works for a socially, economically and ecologically sustainable society by influencing decision makers and making people aware that there are sustainable solutions for society. This is done through information campaigns, education and workshops, but also through pilot projects where new technical, economic and political models are tested. REDES collaborates with several institutions in Uruguay on projects that collect local seeds to spread and increase their availability.

REDES works in four areas; a sustainable Uruguay, participation and territorial management, campaigns and communication.
