Established in the early 2000s, Kawsay in Ecuador works to strengthen the culture, identity and rights of the Andean indigenous people.
This is done by supporting various local initiatives and projects. Common to the projects is that they should all lead to sustainable development economically, socially and ecologically. Like Kawsay in Bolivia, the organization in Ecuador works with education and continuing education based on the indigenous peoples own tradition. It is about spreading awareness of the original knowledge, technology, science and art, cosmovision, as an alternative or complement to the country’s usual teaching.
