About us↴

Future Earth was formed in 1988 based on the vision of creating an international environmental network where knowledge and experience from local organizations in the South would be utilized. The work came to rest on three legs; local pilot projects for environmental development, education and networking, and are based on the three basic principles of ecology, self-reliance and collaboration.

Already during the early years of the Future Earth, there was a collaboration with Biskops Arnös Folk High School, where they held training courses in ecology and communication. Also the exchange of knowledge between the South and Sweden (“Learning from the South”), where members from the network come to Sweden and share their knowledge in schools, associations and municipalities. This collaboration has existed since the 1990s and is still an important part of the Future Earth business.

Today, our most important parts are the program operations in South Asia and Latin America, the internship program and information work. We work together with our member organizations in the South and Sweden and all participate in the decisions that affect them.

The board

The Board of the Future Earth is elected at the AGM by our members in Sweden, that is, our friend groups.
